WV Press InSight was a news magazine show produced for the West Virginia Press Association covering policy, outdoor recreation, economics, and civic issues across the state. I handled multi-camera production, interview segments, and the overall show format.
The show ran multiple seasons with a mix of full episodes and standalone “InDepth” segments. Topics ranged from WVDOT highway jobs to state parks management to legislative previews — the kind of material where you need to keep the production clean and let the subject matter experts do the talking. The 2020 Legislative LookAhead was one of the more ambitious segments, covering economic development priorities for the upcoming session.
What I enjoyed about this series was developing the show format itself. Unlike a one-off event video, a recurring show needs a template that’s flexible enough to handle different topics but consistent enough that viewers recognize it. The graphic overlays, segment transitions, and interview framing all had to work as a system.
